Hearing In The Classroom

We believe it is essential that all children have their hearing screened before entering school to ensure they have the best possible foundation for learning.

The classroom can be a noisy environment, which can make learning difficult for children with hearing loss.

Hearing issues can occur at any time in a child’s life, and undetected hearing loss in children can lead to speech and language delays, learning and behavioral difficulties amongst other things. A temporary hearing loss if untreated, can put a child behind their classmates by months.

The World Health Organisation states that early identification of hearing loss and connecting children to correct care can avoid these issues.

"Children who have the opportunity to hear and listen actively are gifted with the foundation for learning, understanding, and communicating. The sense of hearing opens doors to language development, social interaction, and the exploration of the world around them. It is through attentive listening that children's minds bloom, their imaginations flourish, and their voices find resonance."
